The Centre for Bioethics under Makerere University Biomedical Research Centre (MakBRC) is delighted to announce the MAKERERE BIOETHICS CONFERENCE (MakBC 2025). This year’s theme is Embracing Bioethics in Global Health‘. We invite researchers, practitioners, and students to submit their abstracts for presentation.

🧭 Course Overview

The RCR Course is organized under the SUSTAIN: Advancing Makerere University Masters of Health Sciences in Bioethics Program. It is designed to foster a culture of ethical and responsible research practice among health researchers and bioethics professionals in Uganda.


🎯 Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
✔️ Identify and prevent research misconduct
✔️ Understand ethical principles and professional norms in scientific research
✔️ Apply responsible practices in all research-related activities

  • Human and Animal Subject Protections

  • Conflict of Interest & Peer Review

  • Collaborative and Community-Based Research

  • Mentor-Mentee Relationships
