CISM is a consolidated research center, highly specialized and with a strong capacity for research on transmissible diseases prevalent in Mozambique, with particular focus on the main causes of morbidity and mortality in the country (malaria, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and bacterial diseases). 

CISM’s activities are focused on research and, for this, it has support services (laboratory, Information Technology, Data Management and Analysis), research platforms (geographic and demographic surveillance and morbidity surveillance) and training.

In order to manage the activities, the Centre has an organizational structure composed of the Directorate General, 3 Directorates of Areas (Scientific, Administrative and Financial), within which are different departments, which in turn incorporate sectors and services.
